Dedicated and passionate about learning and sharing the art of belly dance, Karen started her own Belly Dance Academy in Québec City in 2000.

In 2004 she hosted her first Workshop in Québec city with Egypt's ambassador of rhythm and the world's leading name in Egyptian dance music HOSSAM RAMZY & SERENA. This weeklong event featured percussion and dance classes followed by HOMAGE, a show dedicated to the special guest and his wife.

Karen continued dancing as life moved her away from Eastern Canada halfway across the country to Fort McMurray Alberta, where she has successfully re-established her Academy. Karen currently teaches multiple classes weekly at the Fort McMurray Shotokan Karate Club and at the Syncrude Sports and Wellness Center.

Born and raised in Dundee, New-Brunswick, Karen studied Ballet, Jazz and Tap when she was 7 years old. At a very early age Karen participated in varied artistic programs including stage performances in dance and theatre. As a teenager she was Director of the Cheerleading team in High School.

Karen’s artistic talents originate from her musical and artistically gifted family. Her Mom, singer, musician and composer was her biggest inspiration

In 1998 Karen moved to Québec city and met a friend that was taking belly dance classes with Shams Denise Paradis. Intrigued, Karen began taking lessons immediately and after just a few weeks was accepted into Soleil D’Orient Troupe where she studied and performed regularly for 4 years as a Troupe Member but also as a soloist in restaurant and other venues.
